AACTFest11 Passes into History
The journey that began in 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia, to bring the National Community Theatre Festival to New York State for the first time in its history, has ended successfully. People from across the country and Western New York enjoyed twelve excellent productions, outstanding workshops, an exceptionally informative Technical Theatre Workshop and an interesting Design Exhibition and Competition.
Attendance was solid with a total of 400 superpasses and Geva Theatre Center selling 641 individual admission tickets for the week. An additional 68 tickets were sold for the Awards Banquet and Show.
Attendees complimented TANYS for the well-organized event. The parties all got the thumbs-up sign.
An event of this magnitude requires endless hours of planning and a week of smiling and being flexible. Having the banquet go from 300 to over 400 in just a few days required some quick action and good team work.
We had no way of controlling storms in Chicago, which stranded some participants coming from the west coast. Again smiling and flexibility was the key and yes, the show did go on – a day late, but the group performed as promised.
One of the keys to the success TANYS had hosting AACTFest11 were some extraordinary volunteers who moved into Rochester, rolled up their sleeves and went to work. We could not have done this without their spirit and enthusiasm.
So – TANYS and AACTFest11 Kudos to:
