Ivy Kos

Ivy is a 2023 graduate of Niskayuna High School in Niskayuna, NY. She was nominated by Confetti Stage (Albany) and Classic Theater Guild (Schenectady).

She has acted in more than 20 productions with ten different youth and community theatre organizations in the greater Albany area.
She is also an accomplished singer and violinist.

Caitlyn noted in her application essay that "My mom sang songs from Rent and Les Mis as lullabies," which helped spark her love for theatre - "something I will always put my 100% into... something I am absolutely sure about... something I am truly passionate about."

She added, "Community and educational theatre are incredibly important. They provide new artistic outlets to people that need them... It's unreal, getting into a completely different character. Harnessing your talent of singing, acting, and/or dancing... [to tell] live stories for people from all over to enjoy."

Caitlyn is currently attending SUNY Fredonia, studying Elementary Education and Theatre. She hopes to "spread the amazing feeling that theatre gives everyone to the next generation."

Congratulations, Caitlyn! TANYS wishes you much success!
She has also served as a director, stage manager and fight choreographer.

In her application essay, Ivy noted that "Community theatre has been vital for my growth as a person... It has provided a nurturing environment for self-expression and personal development."

She added, "Performing... has developed my self-confidence. This has helped me communicate more effectively... and helped shape me into a great team player and leader, fostering my skills in communication, problem-solving and cooperation."

Ivy is currently attending the University of Southern California (USC) School of Dramatic Arts, pursuing a degree in Theatre with emphasis in Acting. "My goal is to follow in the tradition of theatre's historical role in social change... I am looking forward to a career as a professional actress and, by extension, an activist."

Congratulations, Ivy! TANYS wishes you much success!
